Ad domain blocking in Synamedia Iris Ad Manager allows you to block ads from specific advertisers/brands from appearing in your video streams. This feature helps you to ensures that the ads shown to your audience are appropriate and relevant, safeguarding your brand image and user experience.
Ad domain blocking serves various purposes and includes the following:
Brand protection: Prevent ads from domains associated with unethical or harmful brands.
Competition management: Block ads from competitors to avoid promoting rival products or services.
Content alignment: Ensure ads align with your editorial content and values. Applying Ad Domain Blocking.
You can implement ad domain blocking at the following four levels:
Channel-level ad domain blocking: If you want to restrict specific ad domains within a channel, you can easily set up channel-level ad domain blocks using the Inventory API. For more information, see Add channel.
Platform-level ad domain blocking: For websites or apps, apply platform-level ad domain blocks through the Platform API. For more information, see Create a Site Platform and Update an App Platform in the Developer Portal.
Tenant-level ad domain blocking: You can also block certain ad domains appearing on your entire inventory by applying ad domain blocking of ads at the tenant level. To apply a tenant-level block, contact your customer support team.
Content-Level Ad Domain Blocking: If you wish to stop specific Ad Domains from appearing alongside or within specific programming, then you should use the Ad Domain Block control policy. For more information, see Content Metadata Ingest in the Developer Portal.
In Synamedia Iris Ad Manager, you need to associate each advertiser with their respective ad domains. Assigning an advertiser to each campaign is mandatory. This information enforces ad domain blocking rules when your inventory matches a line item containing a blocked domain and advertiser.
Exercise caution when employing ad domain blocking. Use it judiciously, as excessive blocking can reduce the pool of available ads for your inventory. Reserve this feature for situations where they genuinely enhance your advertising environment.
