Gravity offers a robust solution for managing firmware rollouts. Operators can select the source for firmware downloads from a Synamedia-hosted cloud or their location, such as a CDN. The Synamedia-hosted option enhances security with MTLS Authentication and HTTPS Signed Download URLs, ensuring that only authenticated devices can download the firmware.
Operators can specify firmware rules that control how updates are applied to their devices:
Flexibility to choose which firmware gets upgraded for specific device models or groups.
An easy setup with default rules for new devices.
To isolate a set of test devices to run tests and prevent firmware upgrades on them
Gravity allows operators to create a prioritized list of rules, enabling them to set defaults and override upgrade settings for individual groups of devices or even a single device.
Gravity allows operators to target firmware upgrades based on:
Group of devices
Device model names
Specific device MAC addresses
Firmware versions
These conditions can be applied using Boolean AND/OR logic. Operators can control how firmware is distributed, such as limiting a rollout to 10% of the device population.
Multiple rules can be defined and prioritized, allowing for default upgrade rules and specific overrides. If a device matches multiple rules, the operator portal provides a 'deviceId filter' to see which rules apply and the final firmware rule. Additionally, a firmware filter rule can block certain devices from upgrading automatically.
